About Professor Jitendra Mangwani
Professor Jitendra Mangwani is a consultant orthopaedic surgeon at Nuffield Health Leicester Hospital. He is an expert in all problems relating to the foot and ankle, such as bunions (hallux vagus), big toe arthritis, ankle arthroscopy, joint replacements, and arthrodesis. Professor Mangwani qualified from the Sarojini Naidu Medical College in Agra, India. He completed the North East Thames orthopaedic higher surgical training rotation, and undertook further specialist training in foot and ankle surgery, including a travelling fellowship to Amsterdam and one at the Royal College of Surgeons in trauma and orthopaedics. In addition to his clinical commitments, Professor Mangwani is interested in research of the foot and ankle. He is an elected member of the Scientific Committee of the British Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society, is chief investigator for studies on ankle fractures and Achilles tendon, and Principal Investigator for several multi-centre studies. He is active in medical education as an auditor and teacher, and has been deemed ‘academic champion’ by the University of Leicester where he was bestowed the title of honorary fellow. He is frequently invited as faculty for conferences and courses both nationally and internationally. He is a member of the editorial boards for several orthopaedic journals, has published numerous peer-reviewed articles and book chapters, and reviews for The Bone and Joint Journal.
