Mr Jamie Vatish is an accomplished consultant oncoplastic and reconstructive breast surgeon based at The Harborne Hospital, Birmingham. He specialises in the treatment of breast diseases, particularly surgery for breast cancer. His expertise enables him to address both breast cancer and more benign conditions, leaving his patients feeling reassured and supported in his skilful care. Mr Vatish is well-regarded for his capabilities in oncoplastic surgery with which he can treat the cancer whilst preserving the aesthetic appearance of the breast. Mr Vatish is one of the few surgeons in the West Midlands able to execute chest wall perforator flaps for breast-conserving surgery, negating the need for more invasive and dramatic procedures such as a mastectomy. In 2010. he completed his medical degree from the Medical School of Guys, Kings and St Thomas in tandem with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. He completed higher surgical training in the Midlands and was awarded a National Fellow in Oncoplastic Breast Surgery, followed by a fellowship at the Leeds Breast Unit which enabled him to study in-depth a rare immune cancer associated with breast implants, called Breast-Implant Associated Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma (BIA-ALCL). Aside from his clinical work, Mr Vatish is an active participant in the new generation of medical education and is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Birmingham, in addition to teaching courses at the Royal College of Surgeons in London. He is the author of several papers on the subject of surgery and breast disease, with particular focus on breast cancer genomics and breast-conserving surgeries.
