About Mr Ioannis Michalakis

Mr Ioannis Michalakis is a highly-experienced consultant oncoplastic breast surgeon based in Carlisle. With over two decades of experience, Mr Michalakis is an expert in numerous surgical breast procedures. His areas of expertise include breast uplift, breast augmentation, breast symmetrisation surgery, breast reduction, breast reconstruction and breast cancer treatment. Mr Michalakis currently practises privately at the Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle and the West Cumberland Hospital in Whitehaven. He is also a consultant oncoplastic breast surgeon at the North Cumbria University Hospitals NHS Trust. Mr Michalakis first graduated with an MD from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in Greece, before going on to receive his PhD from the University of Crete. Mr Michalakis has demonstrated his commitment to advancing his field throughout his career, pioneering a new reconstructive breast surgery technique. This new technique has several benefits over previous types of surgery, including less operating time, less scarring, improved cosmetic appearance, and less recovery time. In addition to his clinical work, Mr Michalakis has also made several contributions to medical research, having published numerous articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
