About Dr George Raptis

Dr George Raptis is a consultant paediatrician and an honorary senior clinical lecturer at the University of Glasgow with more than 20 years of experience in paediatrics. He treats patients with complex allergies such as food allergy, gastrointestinal allergic diseases, eczema (especially eczema in infancy), asthma, hayfever and animal dander allergy but also less common allergies such as antibiotic allergy and insect sting venom allergy (bee and wasp). Dr Raptis holds private clinics at Ross Hall Hospital and at Doc Plus in Glasgow. He offers sublingual immunotherapy for airborne allergies (such as pollen and house dust mite) and he is due to commence oral peanut immunotherapy. He sees paediatric patients 0 to 18 years of age at Doc Plus clinic and 3-18 year of age currently at Ross Hall Hospital. His NHS practice is at the Paediatric Allergy Department, Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow. He is the full time paediatric allergy consultant, runs the food allergy clinic and oversees oral food challenge tests for the diagnosis of food allergy. Dr Raptis leads the paediatric allergy research group at the University of Glasgow. He currently serves as principal investigator on peanut and milk immunotherapy (oral, sublingual and epicutaneous/patch immunotherapy) clinical trials at the Clinical Research Facilities, NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde. Apart from his role as principal investigator in clinical trials he also leads food allergy (immunology and microbiome analysis in cow’s milk allergy) studies, research projects on the management of anaphylaxis in community and allergy prevention (investigator-led studies, part of his previous role as senior fellow with NHS Research Scotland).
