About Dr Gayathri Perera
Dr Gayathri Perera is a highly reputable consultant dermatologist based in London who manages patients with skin cancer, lupus and other autoimmune diseases. In addition to general adult and paediatric dermatology, she also has a special interest in medical dermatology including inflammatory skin conditions such as psoriasis, acne and rosacea. Dr Perera completed her medical training at the University of Oxford, where she obtained her MA in physiological sciences and medical degrees in medicine and surgery, before going on to undertake a medical internship at John Radcliffe Hospital Oxford and the Royal United Hospital Bath. For 10 years, from 2002 to 2012, Dr Perera trained in Dermatology at St John’s Institute of Dermatology, Guy’s and St Thomas’. During that time, she was awarded a biomedical research centre clinical training fellowship in translational medicine and later went on to secure a prestigious Medical Research Council-funded three-year period of research into psoriasis. In 2013, Dr Perera obtained a PhD in the Immunopathology of Psoriasis from King’s College London. Besides her dermatology profession, Dr Perera continues to publish her work in peer-reviewed journals, write chapters in dermatology and immunology books and regularly presents at international clinical meetings. She is the Specialty Group Lead for the NW London NIHR/Comprehensive Local Research Network and is an active member of various dermatology associations. Alongside her NHS service at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, Dr Perera currently sees patients at private dermatology clinics at The Medical Chambers, BMI Syon Clinic and The Princess Margaret Hospital.
