About Mr Erden Ali

Mr Erden Ali is a highly experienced consultant orthopaedic surgeon whose NHS practice is at the world renowned Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital. He completed a prestigious Academic Clinical Lectureship funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research at the University of Cambridge. He holds an undergraduate degree in Neuroscience from Imperial College London and earned his doctorate from Magdalene College, Cambridge, supported by the largest individual research grant ever awarded by the British Orthopaedic Association, he gained a distinction for his thesis. He has undertaken both domestic and international fellowships in world leading centres, gaining expertise in major trauma, knee surgery, and complex joint reconstruction. His international training includes a sports knee injuries fellowship at the renowned Steadman Clinic and Steadman Philippon Research Institute in Vail, Colorado, as well as a fellowship in complex reconstruction and revision hip and knee arthroplasty at the University of British Columbia, a leading high-volume centre in Vancouver, Canada. Mr Ali specialises in hip and knee joint replacement (using both the anterior and posterior muscle sparring approaches), revision (re-do) surgery, partial knee replacements, robotic-assisted procedures, and the treatment of sports knee injuries such as ACL and meniscal tears, along with cartilage regeneration. He also offers Arthrosamid® injections. Deeply committed to research and education, Mr Ali has secured over £115,000 in competitive, peer-reviewed research grants. He has authored more than 30 peer-reviewed publications and delivered over 50 presentations at international conferences. He serves as a reviewer for the prestigious Journal of Arthroplasty, and his research has included work on osteoblast function and its role in early failure of hip and knee replacements. In addition, he holds a Masters-level postgraduate certificate in medical education from the University of Cambridge. Mr Ali teaches on several FRCS preparation courses for future orthopaedic consultants and is a certified Basic Surgical Skills instructor for the Royal College of Surgeons.
