About Mr Debendra Sahu
Mr Debendra Sahu has experience in general ophthalmology, including cataract surgery, and holds a specialist interest in medical retinal diseases such as age-related macular degeneration, retinal vascular disease, and diabetic eye disease. He studied medicine at the Royal London Hospital and qualified as a doctor in 1995. He completed further general medical training, including six months in Neurosurgery at Kings College Hospital, before beginning his ophthalmology training. He undertook higher surgical training in the Wessex region and was appointed Consultant Ophthalmologist at Southampton Eye Unit in 2009. Mr Sahu co-established the Macular Degeneration service alongside Professor Lotery and currently works part-time at Southampton Eye Unit and Lymington Hospital. He has, to date, published an extensive amount of peer-reviewed publications.
