About Mr David Bartlett
Mr David Bartlett is a distinguished consultant hepatobiliary, pancreatic and liver transplant surgeon based in Birmingham. His areas of expertise include hilar cholangiocarcinoma, locally advanced pancreatic cancer, vascular resection, and both open and laparoscopic procedures. Mr Bartlett consults privately at The Harborne Hospital. With over 20 years of extensive experience, Mr Bartlett qualified from the University of Bristol. He then trained at Derriford Hospital, before completing higher surgical training in the West Midlands and undertaking two post-CCT fellowships at Queen’s Medical Centre and Queen Elizabeth Hospital. Mr Bartlett also holds the esteemed FRCS (GenSurg) from the Royal College of Surgeons of England. In addition to his clinical roles, Mr Bartlett has played a pivotal role in advancing surgical oncology. During his higher surgical training, he was awarded an MRC clinical research training fellowship to conduct laboratory work. This investigation, which culminated in a PhD, focused on the role of adhesion molecule interactions in the engraftment of transplanted hepatocytes. Mr Bartlett also serves as an honorary clinical senior research fellow at the NIHR Biomedical Unit and Centre for Liver Research. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and is an active member of several professional organisations, including the Association of Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland.
