About Dr Amr Salam

Dr Amr Salam is a highly respected ConsultantDermatologist and Honorary Senior Lecturer based in centralLondon at the world renowned StJohn'sInstituteofDermatologyatGuy'sandStThomas'NHSFoundationTrust and King'sCollegeLondon. He is well recognised for his expertise in acne, eczema, psoriasis and hairloss, having completed an additional one-year specialist fellowship in Medical Dermatology. He also specialises in the treatment of skincancer as well as skinsurgery. Dr Salam qualified in medicine from the UniversityofBirmingham in 2011 after completing a bachelor’s degree in sports and exercise medicine from QueenMaryUniversityofLondon. He then pursued specialist training in dermatology at the StJohn’sInstituteofDermatology in London, having been the highest ranking dermatology specialist training candidate the UK. He additionally undertook an externship within the dermatology department of the YaleNewHavenHospital, USA. In 2014, he attained membership of the RoyalCollegeofPhysicians and was awarded a PostgraduateDiploma in Clinical Education from King’sCollegeLondon and the UniversityofLondon in 2021. Dr Salam holds a number of senior positions at his NHS Trust, including ClinicalLead of the Trust’s AcuteDermatologyService and for the Southwark Community Dermatology Service. He sees private patients at the revered OneWelbeck clinic in central London’s Harley Street district. Dr Salam is a leading name in education and is an HonorarySeniorLecturer at King’sCollegeLondon. He has also led Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust postgraduate distancelearningeducationprogramme since 2020, developing the world's first and only distance learning qualification in specialist dermatology. He additionally holds the position of ClinicalLead for the trust’s internationallink with the esteemed dermatology department of YaleNewHavenHospital. He has also been actively involved in audit and improvingservices as well as establishingclinicalguidelines in dermatology for a number of years. Dr Salam has authored several textbookchapters and a number of academicpapers which are published in international journals. He regularly reviews academic publications for esteemed journals in the field of dermatology and frequently presents at key nationalandinternationalconferences. Throughout his esteemed career, Dr Salam has been presented with many awards, including the Teaching Hero Award from Imperial College London in 2013, for outstanding contribution to student’s medical education, as well as both education and research grant awards from the StJohn'sDermatologicalSociety and AlopeciaUK.
