Professor Ameet Patel is a consultant general surgeon and leading expert in hepato-pancreato-biliary surgery, upper GI surgery and bariatric surgery (weight loss surgery). As a specialist with over 30 years of experience, Professor Patel provides patients with the utmost quality of patient care. He has developed laparoscopic techniques for treating both malignant diseases of the liver, pancreas and biliary system and regularly performs numerous procedures including laparoscopic liver, pancreatic and gallbladder surgery, fundoplication surgery and single incision surgery. Professor Ameet Patel specialises in bariatric surgery, including revisional bariatrics. After qualifying in 1985 from St George's Hospital Medical school in London, he underwent further training to achieve his Master of Surgery qualification from the University of London. Having gone through international training in both the USA and Australia, he has gained exceptional insight and experience in his field. Due to his high level of professionalism and expertise, Professor Patel has performed live link surgery for numerous national and international medical conferences. Furthermore, he has written many peer-reviewed research papers for renowned medical journals, he has also been a supervisor to several research fellows and is President of the Royal Society of Medicine (Surgical Section).
