Temporal arteritis

Temporal arteritis, also known as giant cell arteritis, occurs when the arteries, especially those located at the temples, become inflamed. This condition is serious and requires prompt medical attention. The symptoms of temporal arteritis vary based on which arteries are involved. Common general symptoms include flu-like signs, unintentional weight loss, feelings of depression, and fatigue. Additionally, some individuals with temporal arteritis may experience polymyalgia rheumatica (PMR), which leads to pain, stiffness, and inflammation in the muscles around the shoulders, neck, and hips.
