Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS)
Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is a chronic and painful skin condition that leads to the formation of abscesses and scarring. Although the precise cause of HS remains unclear, it typically develops in areas with hair follicles and sweat glands, such as the groin, buttocks, breasts, and armpits. Interestingly, the condition seems to affect more women than men, though the reasons for this disparity are not well understood. It is estimated that HS impacts around 1 in 100 individuals. The severity of symptoms can vary, ranging from mild to quite severe.
