Epididymitis
Epididymitis refers to the swelling and pain of the epididymis, a tube located behind the testicles. This condition is commonly triggered by an infection and is typically treated with antibiotics. Depending on the underlying cause, you might experience additional symptoms, such as difficulty urinating or a discharge from the tip of the penis that is white, yellow, or green. In younger men under the age of 35, epididymitis is often linked to sexually transmitted infections (STIs) like chlamydia or gonorrhoea. For men over 35, the primary cause is generally a urinary tract infection. If tests confirm that your epididymitis is due to an STI, it is advisable for your current or recent sexual partners (from the last six months) to also undergo testing for STIs.
